
Strong Men 2010 – Improving Quality of Life builds on the 2008 Healthy and Active campaign
Mr. Stanev, fulfilling his main cause Quality of Life, back in 2010, developed the initiatives Sport and Active Lifestyle, as well as “No, to drugs!” by involving global faces to show sports drive and desire to win.
On 12.06.2010, at 15:00, in the garden behind the monument of the Soviet Army in Sofia was held the V round of the World Championships in powerlifting Prista Oil Heavy Duty Strongman Champions League Bulgaria 2010. The event was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. The world’s strongest men took part: Travis Odmeyer (USA) – three times World Champion, the strongest man of the USA, 6 times winner of the Arnold Strongman Classic, Terry Holland (England), winner of the titles “Strongest Man of the United Kingdom”, “Strongest Man of Britain”, second in the world ranking and leader in the provisional ranking; Jukka Matti (Finland) – the strongest man of Scandinavia; Derrick Boyer (Australia) – the strongest policeman in the world, third on the planet in 2008.Bulgaria was represented by Plamen Tsvetanov (“Strongest Man of Bulgaria 2009”).
The competition was held in 6 disciplines: “Towing a 17 ton truck” (25 m for time), “Farm walk” (the competitor has to cover a distance of 40 m carrying 2 weights of 160 kg) , “Log lift” ( 140 kg for pieces), ” Cobbler” (competitor has to run the fastest 25 m carrying a device weighing 430 kg on their shoulders), “Stones of Atlas” (for time competitors have to drop stone balls of different weights on stands of different heights).
The prize fund was 10 000 euros, with the winner – Ervin Katona (Serbia) – receiving 3 000. The second place went to Johannes Orsho (Sweden), while the third place went to Terry Hollands (England), the leader in the provisional standings.
The general sponsor of the event was PRISTAOIL and the main sponsor was DIPLOMAT- Home Appliances. Diplomat Plaza – hotel&resort, hotel DEDEMAN Princess, Happy bar&diner, Abela – dairy products and others.
The winners were awarded by Mr. Kalin Trifonov, representative of “Prista Oil”, Mr. Lyuben Stanev – co-owner of Diplomat and Diplomat Plaza and Mr. Myron Yordanov – President of the Bulgarian Federation of Power Athletes.
